There was a moment a couple of years ago in summer when I was taking a walk in a nature reserve close to the place I lived at the northern edge of Hamburg. It’s mostly swamps, a very wet place, and it had just rained. The lush greenery was dripping and holding misty clouds of damp air.

A few days earlier I had been in a deep transformative weekend of ceremony and I could still feel the plant medicine coursing through my system.

I had already for years had moments of clarity in which I sensed that everything is alive and everything has soul.

But on that day I felt myself completely immersed in the vibrant aliveness of nature. There was no boundary between my presence
and the erotic hum of trees, plants, earth and animals. It was ecstatic, healing and intimate.

This intimacy and connectedness is the place
my paintings come from.
